Why study in Canada?

Education System

1.Education is a provincial responsibility under the Canadian constitution, which means there are significant differences between the education systems of the different provinces.
2.The education system in Canada encompasses
Publicly-funded universities:
Universities are generally Public funded, provides courses ranging from Degree to P.HD and research based.
Private community colleges/ technical institutes, career college’s universities and university colleges give diplomas which is skill based or Job oriented, that leads to bachelors in Universities with appropriate transfer of credits.
3.175 post-secondary institutions which are members of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) are officially known by a range of titles, including Community College, College, Technical Institute, University College, and Cégep.
4.Public and private institutions. They may be “recognized,” “authorized,” “registered,” or “licensed” by government, or they may not be regulated in any way. All public and private “recognized” and “authorized” postsecondary institutions in Canada have been given the authority to grant academic credentials by their provincial or territorial governments through charters or legislation that ensures or enables mechanisms for institutional and program quality.

Entry Criteria

Requirement for Masters is an average good GPA of 70 % and above in bachelor Degree preferably 4 years degree 1.Requirement for Bachelors is an average good score of 70 and above in Secondary and higher secondary education.
2.Requirement for Under Graduate Diploma is an average score of 55 % and above in 12th standard.
3.Requirement for Post Graduate Diploma is an average score of 55 and above in Bachelor’s Degree.












Visa Process

The Canadian High Commission accepts visa application through VFS services.

The visa applications may be submitted at VFS office .All applications will be assessed at The Canadian High Commission, New Delhi or the Consulate General in Chandigarh.

After Submission of the complete application form, application, fees, and required documents to the Visa Office the visa is processed and issued All applicants wishing to study in Canada must satisfy an officer that they will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for the stay, that they will not contravene the conditions of admission, the student has adequate funds available to to pay for tuition and living expenses while in Canada and to return to home country of residence, student should be in good health for which a medical test is required, students have to be law-abiding and have no record of criminal activity , and they should not be a risk to the security of Canada.

Test Required

IELTS is a requirement to almost all Public funded Universities and community colleges, the min score required varies from 6.0 to 7.0 depending on the type of universities.
SAT is required only for certain Public Universities.
GRE is not mandatory it is required only for certain universities, But a good GRE score enhances the chance to get into a good university.
GMAT is not mandatory for all the business school, for some business school GMAT is compulsory.





Accommodation

Each institute has its own policy for housing. Most common types of accommodations are: School-Provided Homestays: : A homestay usually consists of a Canadian family hosting a student in their home while the student attends classes in Canada. This includes meals as well as a private, furnished room. (Cost: CDN $ 400 – $ 800 per month)
School-Provided Residence/Dormitory: Many schools have accommodation conveniently located on or near their campuses. There is usually an option of either shared or private room and dormitories. (Cost: CDN $ 3000 – $ 7500 per year)
Off Campus Housing: Usually many students share or rent apartments to save costs. Listings of available apartments or homes are published weekly in local newspapers. Rents vary greatly according to the location and time of year. (Cost: CDN $ 250 – $ 700 per month)

Part time job and Other details


Part-Time Job

International student are able to work on campus or off campus with or without work permit while completing studies. The Off-Campus Work Permit Program allows certain foreign students to work off campus while completing their studies. To qualify, a student must be a full-time student enrolled at a participating publicly funded post-secondary educational institution or in an approved program at an eligible privately funded institution.


Stay Back Options

International students who study for a minimum 8 months programme can apply for a work permit under the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) Students are allowed to stay back in Canada after their studies, the duration of stay back depends on the duration of the program. If the study period is less than 2 yrs than the stay back will be equal to the duration of the course and if the program is 2 years or more than 2 yrs then the stay back will be 3 yrs.

Tution Fee

Intakes: January, May, September.
Tuition fee: UG/PG Diploma is CAN$ 8,000-15,000 , UG/PG Degree is CAN$ 15,000-25,000.
Living cost: Living cost is CAN $ 10,000 per year.
